Chinese Five Spice

Chinese Five Spice is a spice used in Chinese and Taiwanese cooked and to a lesser extent in other Asian and and Arabic cuisines. It is a combination of five or more spices with a myriad of combinations, though the common one includes:

  1. Star Anise
  2. Cloves
  3. Chinese Cinnamon
  4. Sichuan Pepper
  5. Fennel Seeds

Other additions or ingredients include anise, ginger, galangal, turmeric, nutmeg, dried mandarin peel, and cardamon to name but a few.
